Hello
after admittedly some time of silence, we report but once again from our new home. By the way, today is also a holiday here and therefore the stores are only open as if it were Sunday. So from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or maximum 8 p.m.. Not that the opening hours of the stores here would be of importance to you ... but I am just saying.
What’s new? First of all: We have settled in well. The apartment is furnished and everything is ready for the stuff from the container. At the moment we have two plates, two glasses, a pan and a bowl. Accordingly, the preparation of meals is still not very comfortable. But that will all be over in the foreseeable future. According to the shipping company, our belongings are already on Canadian soil. Now we wait for customs to clear it. That should not take too long. But then we finally have more plates, glasses, pans and even pots.
By the way, the currently available kitchen utensils are perfectly matched to the rest of our interior, designed by our Swedish interior designer friends. For this purpose, we have also taken the way to Richmond about 50 times and trudged through Vancouver with fully packed bags and packages on our heads. Inevitably, images of previous IKEA visits in Germany come to mind, where we were amused by those lunatics who stood at the bus stop with fully packed bags and packages on their heads. Well, maybe we have also amused the one or other observer.
However, I would like to mention at this point that we did not move all the furnishings into the new place ourselves. We're not quite that crazy after all. The majority - we are talking about six IKEA shopping trolleys - we had delivered: PAX, bed with slatted frame, seating furniture in the form of a mousy gray fabric-covered sectional and a self-assembled buffet with bookshelf. A whopping 1.5 tons. Purchased on Friday and everything delivered the very next day at 12 p.m.. That's crazy! Equally crazy is that we were the last customers to leave IKEA on said day. 10 p.m. IKEA closes at nine. Just saying ...
A few hours later, a huge pile of cardboard waste is produced and the first coziness spreads. The couch is in place, the table and chairs are set up, and the buffet is waiting for the bookshelves and their contents. However, all this takes a little time. So, stay tuned. More reports about our crazy adventures will follow soon.
